CHICAGO (December 14,2016) – Derek Bradford, founding partner of Bradford & Gordon, LLC, today gave a presentation for the Chicago Bar Association on the topic of non-traditional support issues. During an event organized by the CBA’s Domestic Relations Committee, Bradford spoke extensively about the various forms of income for child support and maintenance purposes, including loan proceeds, income generated by non-marital property and non-taxable income. He also elaborated on the various effects of these forms of income on child support and maintenance.
Bradford has successfully litigated cases involving valuations of closely-held corporations, complex financial issues including tax issues, maintenance, paternity, child support, custody, and visitation issues. In addition to his experience in matrimonial law, he worked as a tax consultant prior tobeginning his legal career and he frequently utilizes his background in tax law to assist clients with divorce planning.
Bradford is a frequent lecturer for the Chicago Bar Association as well as for the Family Law education programs of the Illinois Institute of Continuing Legal Education.
